The Bird Scholar is a hand-made rod-puppet. The head
and hands are sculpted using a polymer clay. There were no molds used in the construction of this piece. The clothing is hand-sewn over a understructure that allows the puppet
movement. When the center rod is rotated the head will turn from side to side. Each arm can be controlled and although a handful with three rods, two-handed manipulation
is possible. He does come with a customized wire hanger for ease of displaying. If you are interested in this piece he is currently being displayed at the
